ICT Module Reflection

I was happy to take this module in the final semester. I have learned a lot which would benefit my career in my life. I came to realize that ICT plays a very important role in the development of children's capability through the integration of ICT in the curriculum or in the teaching. However, it is teachers responsibility to integrate ICT in the classroom to enhance their learning so that students learn better. Moreover, through ICT, the work can be done more effectively. I have realized that it is not necessary to teach whatever there in the text, instead, we can give some opportunities to explore and expand their thinking to know more about the world around us. I can apply all my learning experiences and knowledge of this module later in my teaching field. Students learn better when they are given hands on practice. Through the use of ICT, student will get chance to think critically and explore new ideas ahead of the text through different websites which would help them learn ...

ICT tools

ICT  tools contribute to high quality lessons since they have potential to increase students’ motivation, connect students to many information sources, support active in-class and out-class learning environments, and let instructors to allocate more time for facilitation. Therefore, use of ICT tools in teaching and learning process becomes a great area of research for many educators.  These tools increase students’ motivation, self-confidence and self esteem to learn. Additionally, new technologies usually encourage independent and active learning, as a result, the students feel more responsible for their own learning. Considerable number of research on the contribution of ICT in modernizing learning and teaching, triggers attempts to incorporate these tools in order to benefit in terms of quality of education, flexibility, access, and its cost.   Therefore, after having learned with all those tools, i feel that it is easier for the teachers to plan and tea...

Situating Tools

I understood that an application that helps to situate learners' in an environment to experience the context and happenings as a situating tools . some of the examples of these tools are simulation (flight, farming, surgery, environment, driving, History City, play station), Virtual Reality (VR), CD-ROM, etc. It helps the users to situate themselves in the environment, comprehend and manipulate variables, communicate with other users login, foster creativity and visualization skills. I came to learn that when a certain real-life experience is impossible or difficult to attain, it is integrated into the teaching learning. Here, we did an exercise on how to create google classroom. Through this exercise under the guidance of our tutor, i have explored a lot which i never had an idea before which would help me in my day to day lives. I can apply these knowledge to my students in future to get better achievement in their learning.  Eg: https://classroom.google.com/u/1/c/MTI4...

Co-constructive Tools

Image
A fourth tool that we have learnt is co-constructive tools. It is an applications that supports the construction of knowledge through a shared understanding (collaboratively consolidate the ideas)   Examples are;   Google docs (docs.google.com) , electronic whiteboard, Blogs and wikis , discussion forum on portals (pce.edu.bt), etc. eg: 1.Blog and Wikis                2. electronic whiteboard   Some of the importance of Co-constructive tools that we have learned are: Co-edit , Communicate database, texts & graphics , Enhance collaborative learning environment, high-level cognitive processes – explanation, problem-finding, problem solving , active & intentional learning , identifying & developing expertise. After having learned with this tools, i have learned how to discuss and share our understanding to the group in google docs. Instead to facing di...

Constructive Tools

Image
A third tool that we have learned is Constructive tool . Constructive tools are general-purpose tools that can be used for manipulating information, constructing one’s own knowledge or visualizing one’s understanding. The term ‘constructive’ stems from the fact that these tools enable students to produce a certain tangible product for a given instructional purpose. For example, web authoring applications allow students to create their own web pages and communicate their ideas to the world. Examples of constructive tools are, electronic bulletin boards/Moodle, social networking sites (Blogs/facebook/twitter), simulations, MS publisher, etc. eg: MS publisher                                              ...

Communicative Tools

Second tools that we have learnt is Communicative tools . It is the systems that mediate communication between the teacher and students or among students beyond the physical barrier (either by space, time or both) of the classroom. Examples of communicative tools include email, electronic bulletin boards, chat, teleconferencing, electronic whiteboards, G-mail, Skype, etc. We have learned two types of communications, 1.       Synchronous (also called real time, in which users must be simultaneously connected, rather like a telephone call). It enables real time communication. It is used for instructional activities that require higher degree of interaction. It helps solving urgent problems/issues. Examples: Chat, telephone call, video conferencing. 2.       Asynchronous (not required the people communicating to be logged on the internet at the same time). This type of commu...

Informative tools

This blog consists of five ICT tools namely, Informative tool, Communicative tool, Constructive tools, Co-constructive tools, and Situating tools. Firstly, we have learned that informative tools are applications that provide vast amounts of information in various formats such as text, sound, graphics or video. Informative tools do not really ‘do’ anything; rather they are considered as huge, passive repositories of information. Examples of informative tools include multimedia resources available on the World Wide Web (WWW). We have also learned that this tool can be used to provide information/content and reference before, during and after our activity, analyze, synthesis and manipulate the topic and also be used to let students construct their own knowledge and meaning. Then we have learned some of the advantages of informative tools such as, it enhance critical thinking, learn to analyze the information, learn to integrate relevant ideas and learn to evaluate resources on the...
